About Me

Experienced Breastfeeding Specialist

Covering the Wellington region, I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), a Nurse / Midwife, Infant Massage Instructor, Antenatal Educator and Clinical Director of Wharekai Pēpē Breastfeeding Support. I began helping women with breastfeeding as a counsellor for Nursing Mothers (Aus) in 1977 while breastfeeding my son . In 1992 I became a midwife and have been working in the community a Midwife/ LMC and Plunket Nurse with breastfeeding mothers in Australia and New Zealand.   I passionately enjoy helping women with breastfeeding,  passing on my knowledge and experience.  Alongside working with women privately and at Wharekai Pēpē, I teach at antenatal breastfeeding classes, workshops with midwives, GP's, Plunket Nurses, Nurses and present my research at national and international conferences.

What is a Lactation Consultant? (IBCLC)

An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant is the gold standard in lactation care. IBCLC’s must renew their certification every five years by continuing education and passing an examination every ten years.
